Diamond Bullnosing Co., Inc. Company Profile
Sometimes large firms can offer the most efficiency on big jobs while small businesses can deliver more personal customer service. But why just settle for one or the other when you can work with one local company that delivers both?
Husband and wife team Domenick Vaticano and Caterina Vaticano run Diamond Bullnosing in Concord CA. The local family-owned and operated stone fabrication center and showroom boasts skilled workers and friendly service that outperform larger firms in Contra Costa County and throughout the Bay Area.
Artisan Quality
A consumer's first priority is the quality of their stone countertops and flooring. And that's just how it should be says Domenick Vaticano. "That's why you're smart to work with Diamond Bullnosing. We have the best craftsmanship practices in order to get the value you deserve."
Domenick Vaticano was a master installer for 18 years before opening Diamond Bullnosing. "A high level of craftsmanship has always been key with us," he says. "I worked for Fortune 500 companies in the area, and that helped my work take an artisan form. Now that I have the task of inspiring my workers to do the same, I'm just as consistent with high quality."
Diamond Bullnosing does all their fabrication work in their on-site fabrication shop, just 70 yards from Domenick's office. Their state-of-the-art equipment simplifies the fabrication process and lets skilled employees accurately finish complicated curves and freeform work.
"We have great, honest employees that we've trained in the art of fine craftsmanship," he says. "I spend a lot of time in the shop because I want make sure the products we are making are the best anywhere."
A Personal Approach
Customers are welcome to visit the Diamond Bullnosing showroom and shop. "We invite clients to our facility so we can show them the process and give them a tour," says Domenick Vaticano. "They meet our managers, see how our office staff works and walk through the production shop. That instills confidence in what we do, and they can see the value that is behind every one of our products."
That personal service is a hallmark of Diamond Bullnosing. "Because we're family owned, we have a real strong connection with our employees and customers," says Domenick. "Caterina and I are involved in the whole process, from start to finish. That is something you just can't get with bigger companies."
Domenick Vaticano says Diamond Bullnosing takes their commitment to client care personally. And they proved it during a recent project. "We installed granite in a kitchen and three bathrooms for a recent client," says Domenick. "The client purchased the material from a large company, and after we installed it, she saw color variations in the finish that she wasn't expecting." But the manufacturer wouldn't replace the product she'd bought through that other company.
So rather than leave the client stranded like so many other companies would have, Domenick Vaticano found a solution that matched Diamond Bullnosing's approach to customer satisfaction. "We let her pick a different material from our stock, went back to her house and changed out the material. It was all at my expense, but it was worth it to see the client get the resolution she wanted. I believe that in every case we have a chance to shine through and do business the right way."
Touring the Facility
Diamond Bullnosing is located on a one-acre site in Concord CA. It features a 3,500-foot showroom, a 13,000-foot workshop and on-site storage. Customers say the showroom is well-organized and spacious, and they appreciate meeting the craftsmen.
During research phone calls, randomly selected customers made comments including, "I liked being able to go to the showroom and work directly with the fabricators," "I liked the showroom. It was nice," "They always have plenty of time for us," and "They take a special interest in the customer."
On tours of the fabrication facility, clients often say they are surprised by how safe and clean the workshop is. "The facility is well-kept, and the working conditions for our guys are immaculate," says Domenick Vaticano. "We are an OSHA-approved shop, and we take extreme safety precautions because we value our employees and want every one of them to go home safe every day."
And unlike many large industrial fabrication facilities, Diamond Bullnosing is a green shop. "We recycle all of our water and emit no toxic materials into the atmosphere," says Domenick Vaticano. "Granite sludge is filtered out of our water and, along with leftover granite pieces, is recycled and reused as road base rather than ending up in landfills."
Staying Connected
Domenick Vaticano and Caterina Vaticano went to the same Walnut Creek CA high school, both children of parents relocated from Italy. Now, 20 years later, the couple has a 14-year old son named Marco and an 11-year old daughter named Julianna. "Our son is very ambitious, and even at 14, it's obvious he has an interest in business," says Domenick. "And Julianna is an animal-loving, fun-loving free spirit. We call her our little butterfly."
The Vaticanos have a cabin near Bear Valley, and they like to get away and enjoy the fresh air. "Just being together and spending a weekend together is a great time," says Domenick.
Domenick Vaticano has always worked with his hands. He started as a teenager with his father's business and learned the basics of stonework while setting tile in his early 20s. Caterina Vaticano has a business background, and Domenick says they make an awesome team. "Caterina built the front end of the store and taught me how to become the best businessman possible," he says. Then jokes, "I still haven't taught her how to set marble yet."
Caterina Vaticano is the head of Diamond Bullnosing's large, busy office. "I am very involved with keeping in touch with customers," she says. "It is important for me to stay connected and get feedback so we can continually make changes that make our service even better."
It's rare to find a locally-owned, family-run company that can provide both great service and top-notch products that outperform those of large companies. And, according to customers who know, Diamond Bullnosing in Concord CA has met the mark. Clients say they like working with owners Domenick Vaticano and Caterina Vaticano, who run their Contra Costa business with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and top-quality products.
