he owner of Lambert & Sons Floor Covering, Nathan Lambert, literally grew up in the business. Nathan's father and uncle started the company in 1970, and Nathan, along with his brother, Jared, worked at the store in the summers and after school. Nathan studied math in college but realized he wanted to come back and join the family business. After spending time in Spain on a mission with his church, he came back as an employee of his father's company, as did his brother, Jared, after completing a church mission in Mexico.

A Well-Known, Expert Team
"It turned out that my brother and I were very, very good at laying floors," said Nathan. "The two of us are known in this area for being able to do the best work, particularly in the area of sheet vinyl." Nathan Lambert and Jared Lambert worked as employees for eight years before becoming partners in the company Lambert & Sons Floor Covering. Their father passed away and their uncle retired, and the two became owners of the company.

Core Values Handed Down Through Generations
"We wanted to change some things," said Nathan. "We got things more streamlined administratively, for example; my uncle hated computers. But we wanted to keep certain core values that our dad and uncle had always brought to customers. We were taught that being successful is about working hard, but more importantly, working smart."

Nathan Lambert, Jared and the rest of their team at Lambert & Sons Floor Covering are well versed in all aspects of remodeling and construction and understand that the process of having new flooring installed is disruptive to their clients' lives. With this in mind they work quickly and efficiently, taking care to respect the property and personal space of their customers. When sanding hardwood floors, for example, they use a dust containment system that eliminates the dust clouds that used to be associated with that type of work. "To have work performed in your home is inconvenient and disrupts the normal flow of life. This can be stressful. We try to eliminate as much of that stress as possible," said Nathan Lambert.

Trustworthy, Dependable Employees
Their 12 employees were chosen carefully for their appearance, their ability to communicate, trustworthiness and ability to be helpful and creative. "We have lots of long-term employees," said Nathan. It's like a family from the top down. That's how we see them."

Experts in All Areas of Flooring
With expertise in hardwood floors, carpeting, sheet vinyls and laminates, Lambert & Sons Floor Covering can handle any type of flooring needs. "We do a lot of hardwood floors," said Nathan. "It's probably seventy to seventy-five percent of what we do, either pre-finished or sanding. But we're great at vinyl, laminates and carpet too. In fact," he added, "we've even installed laminate floors in motor homes."

Company Philosophy
"The success of our business is based on satisfied customers," said Nathan. "This is paramount. This philosophy has worked for us; most of our work is from referrals. I had five appointments today. Three were repeat business from customers that liked our work in the past, and the other two were referrals from other customers."

Recently Expanded Showroom
Lambert and Sons Floor Covering recently expanded their large and beautiful showroom located in the heart of Campbell, California. There, customers can see all of the products they offer. Customers are encouraged to take samples home to see them in the context and light of their own homes.

Nathan and Jared would like to see their business grow, but "We need to keep the family atmosphere," said Nathan. "We need our clients to be able to talk to the boss anytime. We will always put customer service ahead of growth."
