Larry's AutoWorks Company Profile

A great auto repair service is one who's not only there to change your oil or repair your vehicle after a breakdown but that works to make sure you avoid breakdown repairs in the first place.

On the Road
Larry Moore, owner of Larry's AutoWorks in Mountain View CA, is dedicated to keeping his customers' vehicles on the road and out of a repair shop. In fact, he believes well-maintained vehicles should reliably run for at least 200,000 miles.

Larry's AutoWorks Certified Maintenance Program keeps your vehicle in top condition and can lower operating costs by half. Regularly maintained vehicles are more reliable and can save you thousands of dollars in repair and replacement costs.

Reminders for routine maintenance, car care literature and free vehicle care workshops help keep Larry's AutoWorks customers in the driver's seat when it comes to vehicle maintenance.

Neil, a customer who responded to a research phone call, said, "They have my records, and they keep me up to date on what needs to be done to my car. I appreciate that very much."

The technicians of Larry's AutoWorks know customers depend on their vehicles, so they schedule every appointment to guarantee personal attention. This is why 85% of jobs at Larry's AutoWorks are completed the same day they arrive. Loan vehicles and shuttles guarantee transportation while your vehicle is serviced. Preferred customers—those who pre-book regular maintenance appointments—receive a free rental car and coupons for more than $450 in services and discounts.

Personal attention makes a big difference to customers like Karen. During a research call, she said, "I like the guy at the desk. He remembers me and my car. I like that they are respectful of women. That is why I went there in the first place. I have used them for over eight years."

Expert Technicians, Clear Communication
Larry Moore and his technicians are Certified Master Technicians. They know continuing education is important, so staff members complete at least 50 hours of additional training every year. "My guys are hungry for knowledge," says Larry. "The industry is changing so quickly, you need constant training to be an expert."

With fifteen bays, Larry's AutoWorks functions like several specialty shops under one roof. Each of the technicians specialize in servicing either German, Japanese or American vehicles, and the bays are outfitted with original equipment manufacturer testing equipment, specialty tools and custom-sized vehicle lifts.

The skilled technicians at Larry's AutoWorks do quality work that lasts, not cheap patch jobs.  A quick fix from another shop might work temporarily, but then result in more expensive future breakdowns. The long-term repairs at Larry's AutoWorks save you money and keep you safely on the road.

At other shops technicians well-versed in technical jargon struggle to find terms customers can easily understand. The resulting miscommunications at those shops can cause frustration and leave clients feeling cheated.

But service advisers at Larry's AutoWorks ease communication between technicians and car owners by conferencing with both parties. As both ASE Certified Service Advisors and communication experts, service advisers help technicians and customers come together to find solutions.

Customers are grateful for the informative service at Larry's AutoWorks. During a research phone call, a customer named Marc said, "They were very customer focused. They explained the whole repair process to me before they started the work on my car. They were detailed in asking me what I wanted. They took the time to recommend additional maintenance that I could do at home to keep my car in top shape."

For Larry Moore, keeping his customers on the road also means backing up every repair job—parts and labor—for three years or 36,000 miles, an industry-leading warranty no other shop offers.

The Importance of Being Green
Larry's AutoWorks has won every award possible for environmentally-responsible auto shops. "I've been on the forefront of green auto shop development," says Larry Moore. "We've found ways to do business that are better for the environment and the most cost-effective."

They minimize both solid and liquid shop waste, leaving a greener footprint. Employees recycle all cardboard and metal and take special care to separate and recycle cleaner waste, coolant and other toxic liquids. Their exclusive four-step cleaning method leaves shop floors spotless. In fact, their cleaning process is so thorough, the mop water can be dumped down the drain rather than treated as hazardous waste like mop water at less environmentally-friendly shops.

Even their maintenance programs contribute to cleaner air and water and less money spent on gas. "If we keep your car running properly through proper service, it runs very clean, is better for the environment and gives you the best gas mileage," says Larry Moore. "You will produce fewer emissions, your car won't leak chemicals and it won't end up in the junk yard before its time."

Cars and trucks are more than Larry Moore's lifelong passion, they are also the family business. Laurie Moore, Larry's wife of 42 years, is the company's Chief Financial Officer. Their daughter worked at Larry's AutoWorks for 12 years before accepting a position in the clothing industry. She still helps with making interior design decisions for the company.

Larry Moore and Laurie Moore have a home in Los Altos CA, where they enjoy spending time in their garden and by their koi pond. Larry designs and cares for the garden, and creates custom yard furniture from recycled redwood. The couple also loves traveling to the beaches of Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

But Larry Moore's first love is cars, from his early days as a hot rod racer figuring out how to build an engine that could withstand the rigors of racing, to his career as owner of one of the Bay Area's greenest and most accomplished auto shops.

When it comes to maintaining safer, healthier and the most cost-effective vehicles, Larry's AutoWorks is the most dedicated of auto repair shops. Their certified master technicians offer the best long-term solutions to keep your car or truck on the road and in good repair for as long as you drive them.
