Zayer Quality Construction Company Profile

r?> emodeling your home can be one of the most difficult things to endure, even if you know the end result will be worth it (a smart remodeling project can add tens of thousands of dollars in value to your property). The problem is that not only will your home become a construction site, but you may have to deal with a contractor who isn't everything he should be. To find someone trustworthy, you can ask friends for referrals, but even then, there can be problems. As we spoke with clients of Zayer Quality Construction in San Jose, we learned that most of them found owner Ed Zayer not just through friends, but also through the enthusiastic recommendations of other professionals in the industry.

Constructing Lifelong Relationships
What is it about Ed Zayer that made clients choose him, and continue to use him time and again? When Marian of San Mateo needed her kitchen remodeled, she was concerned. She had heard horror stories from her neighbors about other contractors who turned out not to be financially secure or reliable. Marian took no chances; she went directly to her kitchen designer, who gave her Ed Zayer's name as her first and only recommendation. When Marian met Ed, she was won over by Ed's "confident yet humble demeanor—I just trusted him immediately, and I didn't even consider getting another bid. And his work is so good that I'm having him do another job for me this summer."

Metra of Saratoga, California met Ed as he was putting finishing touches on the deck of the home she and her husband had just purchased. Metra was so impressed by Ed's professionalism and honesty, and by the fact that her realtor praised him to the skies, that she hired him to design and complete her new home's large and unfinished backyard. Metra has continued using Ed since then, and notes that "his design sense and taste are excellent. We have the best land, the best fence, the best gate, the best yard. Anyone would be lucky to have him for their contractor." Metra met Ed eighteen years ago, and even though Ed has become her family's "lifelong contractor and friend," Metra remembers being relieved that Ed was trusted so completely by people she respected.

A Company-Wide Approach to Excellence
Ed Zayer and his wife, Parvin Zayer, have been in the business of building for more than 20 years. They take a great deal of pride in the reputation that Zayer Quality Construction has gained in Santa Clara County and beyond. As a young man, Ed reports that he had creative leanings, and that he "was always making houses." In order to support and expand his innate design skills, Ed has completed extensive coursework in Construction Technology and Architecture. He's not limited to building; as his client Metra noted above, Ed is also an accomplished landscaper.

When asked about his favorite type of project, Ed says that he loves challenges: "Anyone can do the easy jobs; the biggest rewards come from the trickier design and implementation projects." Ed credits his top-notch team of cabinet makers, plumbers, electricians and other skilled tradesmen-many of whom have been with Zayer Quality Construction for 10 years or more-with helping to make every job a success. This crew is crucial to helping Zayer Quality Construction complete the kind of intensive and painstaking work remodels and additions require—and Ed thrives on managing projects, "I love to have a hand in the decision-making process, because I know how a client's choices will apply to their living environment." Because a well-designed remodel or addition can add significant value to a home, Ed approaches each project with the long view in mind, "I don't do slip-shod work just for a little boost. Small changes can have a huge impact, but they must be thought through carefully."

Maxine of Los Gatos is enthusiastic about Ed Zayer, and she gives him the "highest recommendation". Over the years, Zayer Construction has re-roofed her home, installed a marble fireplace, and installed new floors and bathrooms. Ed's first job as a kitchen remodeler, though, was the clincher for Maxine, "My neighbors recommended Ed, I met him at Thanksgiving time, and I trusted him so completely that I just gave him the keys to my house and left for vacation. There's no one like him in the whole world. He's one of a kind, and that's the truth."
