Cloverdale Eagle Tech Collision & Towing Inc. Company Profile
car accident is never a good thing, but if you're lucky, you'll find a towing company, a repair shop, and a rental car agency that will make your life easier. As I talked to Randy Hatcher, the owner of Cloverdale Eagle Tech Collision and Towing in Cloverdale, California (which is also an Enterprise Car Rental agency), I wondered: Could one company provide all three of these services and maintain quality in each of them? Randy says yes, it's actually a perfectly matched set of businesses that compliment each other and make customers' lives much, much easier. Expect the Best When You Give the Best
Randy Hatcher makes no bones about being a perfectionist. This trait that helped him immensely as he learned auto mechanics and welding in his teens—and even more so when he began his career as a PG&E machinist, "I've always been a perfectionist, and I know that a good craftsman depends on his tools as much as his skills." When Randy retired from PG&E and had the opportunity to open Cloverdale Eagle Tech, he knew just how to go about it. "My philosophy is to get good people, listen to them carefully, and give them the proper tools to do the best job they can. My people know I have zero tolerance for work that's not up to par, but they also know that I'll support them with the best equipment and tools money can buy." This equipment includes computer paint matching technology and the Chief Velocity Laser Measuring System, which helps Randy's crew bring a mangled car back to factory specifications, with a margin of error smaller than the width of a business card. In addition to this top-of-the-line technology, all of Randy's mechanics are certified by DuPont and I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair. They're also long-time employees (most have been with Cloverdale Eagle Tech for 12 years), and Randy's proud to report that he's never had a worker's comp. claim—which is surprising when you consider the kind of work his crew does.
Randy Hatcher also makes sure everything is done right, "We do it right the first time. We don't paint over dents. I mean, I've gotten cars that still had masking tape on them from a previous job, or paint overspray in the wheel wells. I couldn't believe it! When we return the car to our customers, they can't even tell that it was ever damaged. We won't let a car go until it's perfect."
A Full-Service Business Philosophy
Independent research calls to customers of Cloverdale Eagle Tech found that customers were surprised at how easy Cloverdale Eagle Tech made everything. Essentially, the customers reported, after a fender bender they called one number, were promptly towed to Cloverdale, and were taken care of by Randy's staff. Insurance forms, including towing charges, Enterprise car rental, expert collision repair—were all done in one place, or, as my father used to say, "In one fell swoop."
And Randy Hatcher isn't running Cloverdale Eagle Tech Collision & Towing by himself. He owns the business with his wife Gina Hatcher, who manages the office and keeps all the paperwork flowing smoothly, and his son Russell Hatcher, who runs the shop, leaving Randy to oversee all three businesses to his perfectionist heart's content. "Basically," Randy says, "we do it all. When you've been in an accident, you're traumatized. It's not the time to be a project manager. We do everything. We tow you here, we get you a rental car, we handle the insurance paperwork—we take care of everything and you do nothing but relax. And we won't waste your money. If something doesn't need to be done, we won't do it. We know your accident was stressful. We'll make sure your experience with us isn't."
So yes, it's actually a brilliant idea for Cloverdale Eagle Tech to offer each of the three services people need after an accident. It's smart, it saves time and hassle, and it's very convenient for customers. And in the hands of Randy Hatcher, Gina Hatcher, and Russell Hatcher and their certified crew, nothing is being ignored; all of these services are given the attention they deserve. Though I'd never wish an accident upon anyone, it would be wonderful if everyone had the option of calling Cloverdale Eagle Tech when they needed them.
