MastersTouch Construction Inc. Company Profile
f you want a simple kitchen or bath remodel, you might not think to call an expert company like MastersTouch Construction in Santa Rosa CA. However, if you owned a historic, 14,500 square foot Victorian mansion that needed to have its siding and roof replaced and its foundation re-poured (which means that the mansion had to be lifted off its original foundation), MastersTouch would be an excellent choice. What about if you also wanted to re-install all of the intricate Gingerbread exterior pieces on your home, install an elevator and a home theater, and turn your entire property into a Smart home? Or what about if you managed a 3-acre housing complex that had dry rot, leaky roofs, damaged siding, and leaky windows and needed re-roofing, re-painting, and properly installed windows? You could try to deal with the hassle of coordinating a whole group of different contractors on each of these jobs, or you could instead enjoy the expertise that MastersTouch brings to the process. Over 75 Years of Combined Construction and Project Management Experience
Bob Daily, Eric Rose, and John Cake of MastersTouch Construction have worked in residential and commercial construction, project management and engineering for a combined total of more than 75 years, and they bring a wealth of knowledge to their work. Though all three men have wide-ranging experience in remodeling and building projects, Bob, John, and Eric created MastersTouch to take on, well, masterpieces like the $10 million-dollar renovation of Santa Rosa's famous McDonald Mansion. That expansive, stately 1870s Victorian required extensive reconstruction and renovation work—the finish details alone required 44 pages of intricate architectural plans and drawings. But Bob, Eric, and John loved every minute of it.
They also loved the work they did to refurbish and bring up to code the 3-acre housing community mentioned in the first paragraph—The Wood Creek Apartments. Rather than suggesting the cheapest possible materials, MastersTouch Construction worked with the Wood Creek owners to create an aesthetically pleasing, excellent project that was well within their budget. Company president Bob Daily explains, "We didn't approach the project thinking, ‘How can we scrimp and save?' We wanted to do something really cool—something you could take your kids by and say, ‘Hey, we did that!' And we did it totally on budget and totally on time."
An Engineer's Focus on Precision
Bob Daily is an experienced engineer, and he brings his exacting eye to each project, from the first contact with the customer to the bid process. Unlike many contractors who present the client with one final bid amount, Bob shares all of his numbers with his clients—all of his costs for labor, materials, overhead, hourly rates, and profit, so the client knows the exact price for each item. Bob also brings his engineering training to the scheduling process, and he's proud to note that, "We drive very hard to meet or beat our estimated schedules, and so far, we have!"
A Guild of Modern-Day Craftsmen
All three men also bring another very important asset to their many large projects, as Bob Daily explains, "We've gathered a remarkable support network of nearly a thousand excellent subcontractors, some of whom we've worked with for more than 20 years. These people are tried-and-true tradesmen who work at the top of their game, and they give us the flexibility to do extensive and incredibly sophisticated projects. Working with these crews—it's like being a part of a Swiss watch. Everything fits together perfectly."
This network helps MastersTouch Construction provide very high-end work, but it also helps Bob Daily, Eric Rose and John Cake focus on bringing in the best and most competitive bids and providing top-notch customer service. "People are surprised by how happy we all are, and by how much fun we have on each job," says Bob, "and the secret is this: At this point in our lives, none of us has to work. We do this because we love it. We aren't out to squeeze the customer. Our craftsmen love the opportunity to work on extensive or high-end jobs, and we all love to be a part of this amazing clockwork. We're all able to work at a different level, a higher level. It's a joy."
