he principals of Redwood Landscape, Inc., in Millbrae, Tony Morales & Jolene Morales met when their respective high school bowling teams competed (he went to an all-boy school, she attended an all-girl school). The two have been laughing, dreaming and working together ever since.

Nevertheless, they both took jobs at landscaping companies at a young age and found they had an affinity for the work. "In 1979 we got married and decided together to start our own business," said Tony Morales. "We started off very small, but word got around and we began to be hired by more and more people."

"We used to spend too much time on job administration and dealing with employees and not enough time doing what we enjoyed" said Tony. "Now, we're completely hands-on. That's very important to us. We intentionally stay small so we can keep giving that level of service. We only schedule one job at a time, and we do our own work."
